With a little help from my friend

The start of the ride

Please enjoy the video below, and don't forget to check out all the photos if you haven't already from the ride in the

equestrian ride gallery on this website.

It's seems to have been a while now since the Durham Valley ride, and one I have really wanted to get the video up for viewing, because on this ride I had a helper.

When I joined the route around CP1 to capture as many of the 10K riders as possible, Bethany came down for a chat.  Not only did she talk but went to find and guide you towards me.  It made a very pleasant change for me as I am generally left to my own thoughts for large chunks of the day. Thank you for your company Bethany you were a big help.  Also, thank you for introducing this rides video.

Once you step away from the pleasure rides with the EGB, you then enter the world of vetting.  Not being deeply engrained in this discipline myself, I do get the feeling that it is not the part of the day most people look forward to but one that has to be completed by you, or a willing crew member to proceed onto the ride.

I love the photographs from this section, and see it as another vision of the partnership between horse and rider.  I also get to see you without your helmets, which is nice.

When the Durham ride was on, it was bang in the middle of very unsettled weather, so we were very lucky with the day we had.  From my point of view it was so god to be outside and not need wellies or wet clothing.  Sat by the side of the track listening to the bird song, greeting dog walkers and happening to meet these lovely creatures (see photo right, not above (Sorry)) really made my day.  Sometimes it's okay to slow down and look around you.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the ride, and look forward to seeing you all at another ride soon.

Take care.
