We had a great day for the Clifton Castle Pony Club ride, and I had a good walk around the second loop.  It is so good to see so many youngsters out enjoying their horses.  The progression from one year to the next is amazing, seeing them grow in confidence with their horsemanship, moving up from lead rein to solo riding.  It must also be very satisfying for the parents to be able to share their passion for horses and spend quality time with family.

There were plenty of helpers for this ride with pony club members stationed around the route looking after the gates and at the end walking round collecting the markers.  Everyone, with a smile on their faces.  This is great to see because without these people it becomes very difficult if not impossible to put these rides on for everyone.  So keep up the good work and remember if you are unable to ride at an event, think about if you can offer help to keep the rides going. I'm sure the organisers will be glad of any help given.

I was expecting to see Helen and Falcon at this ride, I had helped them get the trailer ready and check the tyres, so was surprised to hear from Robert that she was having trouble and may not make it to the venue.  When I got home I was told that a wheel had come off the trailer when they were not too far from the venue.  They made it back home thanks to the help from our son, but the wheel was lost somewhere on route.  We slowly retraced our steps looking on both sides of the road but were unable to see any sign of the wheel or damage a free wheeling wheel may cause.  So Falcons rides have been put on hold for the time being until the trailer repairs have been complete.
